Ferret Update: 01/20/08

My ferrets are doing well and as to be expected they are exploring new areas of the home under my supervision. Indra decided it would be a lot of fun to “tunnel” under my dresser. It took me a while to convince him to come on out. He wasn’t stuck he was having fun playing. I’ll be taking pictures and adding them to Ferrets Haven. I’ll try to take a few videos also.

Upcoming Video

Finally! I’m currently uploading a ferret video of three of my fuzzbutts. This was taken earlier today. YouTube seems to be taken it so hopefully I’ll be able to post what I captured. Did you know that some ferrets snore? Of course they all don’t snore but some of them do. My ferret Hanuman snores a lot!  Not that fun when you are trying to sleep, lol.

When I first adopted him I had a hard time falling asleep with the snoring going on however I guess I’ve learned to tune out my ferret snoring. I’m still a light sleeper but I guess my mind registers Hanuman’s snoring as something to ignore when I’m sleeping.

I received the book Raw Meaty Bones by Toms Lonsdale yesterday. I’m really enjoying reading it. There is a lot of research that has been done in this book and I have found it enlightening to read the admissions from some of the pet food companies about the problems animals can encounter eating their food. Fascinating!

Problem Solved

For about two days Ganesh stopped eating the raw food. Hmm! I racked my brain trying to figure out what was wrong? The only thing I can figure out was the fish oil. I put more into the raw chicken than normal. I eased up and everything was fine. Hanuman seemed a little wary about all raw chicken so I added about 1 tbsp of Natural Gold to the raw chicken, 1 tsp of extra virgin olive oil, 1 tsp of fish oil. I mixed everything thoroughly. They started licking the fish oil off the chicken and eagerly moved onto eating the chicken cubes. The chicken was eagerly devoured by all.
